If you are a novice cake decorator, you should strive for a simple design on the wedding cake. Don’t set your sights on a cake with intricate details and designer flowers made of gum paste or other decorating frosting. You can simply ice the cake smooth and use real or artificial flowers to decorate it. Be sure to allow time to complete the project without rushing yourself. The last thing you need is to be a wreck at your own wedding just because you are rushed. Ask for help from your bridesmaids. This could turn into a fun party.

If you are an experienced cake decorator, you have many more options available. You probably have the tools and know how to do bake your own wedding cake. You can go for something a bit more complicated, but don’t get overly ambitious.
